At the Midway
J. Clayton Rogers

At the Midway cover by D. Lee

ISBN 1-59201-039-3
177,640 words

Ranging hundreds of millions of years, At the Midway takes you on a grand tour of evolution that culminates in a deadly encounter on Midway Island in 1908. The Tu-nel have outlasted the dinosaurs, survived geological upheavals, and fought the giant carnivorous whales of the Eocene epoch to extinction. Witnesses from Aristotle to members of the Royal Astronomical Society have attested to their existence. Now elements of Theodore Roosevelt's 'Great White Fleet' are about to learn the truth first-hand. When a group of Tu-nel attack U.S. Marines on Midway, a critical submarine cable station is destroyed, cutting communications with American forces in the Philippines. The problem-plagued battleship Florida is dispatched to determine the cause of the sudden break with the Far East, unaware of the unprecedented battle that lies ahead....

Read a Sample Chapter of At the Midway

...Clayton has certainly got off to a good start by, so to speak 'dropping the reader in at the deep end of the pool', even though this sample is located far from Midway. It proclaims itself a real page turner, with each paragraph quickening ones interest concerning what's to come.--Reviewed by Adrian Rogers

About the Author

Born and raised in Virginia, J. Clayton Rogers lives in Richmond, where he indulges in his favorite pastimes: reading, writing and hiking. Although he is the proud and loony owner of 10,000 books, his most prized possession remains his Richmond City Library card. His inglorious past has included jobs ranging from kitchen help (at Disney World) to golf tour lackey to convenience store clerk to insurance claims adjuster to homeowners property/casualty analyst. Mr. Rogers has made the rather bogus assertion that writing would be a snap if it weren't for all the cats leaping onto his notepad and keyboard.
